Coach Criteria

Checks

Everyone over the age of 16 is required to obtain a (no more than 30 days old) national police check. Please do not go out and get your own, as we will send you a link of our supplier, if you are acccepted All our checks will determine if you can work with teens. (This is at the cost of the applicant)

Application

After our interview, if we choose to proceed to the next stage, an application is provided for completion and review.

Training

All applicants will be required to have been trained by an approved ICF coaching school, as well as having completed our D.R.E.A.M Teen Coach Certification.

Proof of training will be required before being considered.

Identification

Prior to any Police checks being conducted, we will require Identification to be provided, so we know who we are dealing with. This could be a driver's Licence, government students cards or a passport.

This is provided at application stage

Interview

Each Coach will be required to attend a Zoom interview. Nothing too serious, but we do like to know who is talking to our network.

Accreditations

At application stage, we will require a copy of your accreditations, including training with an ICF approved body.

Coach Protocols

Meetings

This is a virtual only site. If a teenager requests that you meet for coaching, then it is imperative that you request a parent/guardian involvement. Do not forget to get your Parent/Student form completed and signed. Keep all file notes of interactions with your students, in case you need to refer back to them . Most likely a parent will want you to speak to you. Our approach is for an 'Event' to be set up through the site for the student. This is done through a Tribe set to secret mode, so that no one else in the network can see it. Then provide a Zoom link, so that you can hold a video meeting with the parent. They will want to know who is talking to their child.

Language and Behaviour

No matter how close you get to your students or how close to your age they are, you are never to engage in sexual banter/behaviour in any form, even if they do. This is a coaching environment and you are required to keep a professional distance at all times.

Keep Notes

No matter what topic you are coaching, there are a couple of documents and records you should be holding. Firstly a parent permission application. (For anyone under the age of 18) This will save you a lot of headaches later on if a parent gets involved. In many cases they will be the one paying for it. Secondly every interaction with a student should be recorded. A file note kept in students records should be held. This would entail who attended the meeting, the date and time it was held and anything that was said that relates to your coaching session.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

When first engaging a student you will need to advise them that your conversations are confidential. If during your meetings, some type of abuse has been disclosed to you by a teenager, then you will be required to report it to the authorities or a parent, depending on the nature.
